My husband and I were honored to be guests at the wedding of beauty queen Miriam Quiambao and author Ardy Roberto in Tagaytay last March 25, 2014. It was supposed to be a garden wedding but due to the strong on and off drizzle, we moved into the pavilion of Ville Sommet where the two love-birds said thier I-Do’s. All the ladies I spoke to were thankful for the move because heels do NOT get along with gardens , LOL!
Turns out that Ville Sommet is gorgeous venue for weddings and important life-events. It’s got a sprawling garden covering a hilly terrain. Here is Miriam Quiambao making her bridal entrance in a wedding gown by designer Francis Libiran:
Miriam Quiambao walks down the stony steps of Ville Sommet as makes her grand entrance…
Miriam was glowing as she came down the steps into the pavilion where the guests and her betrothed, Ardy Roberto waited impatiently. Everyone was dying to get the first glimpse of the bride and this is what she looked like… more beautiful than when she won the nation great honor during Miss Universe 1999…
Miriam Quiambao offers a beautiful smile as the guest erupt in cheers!
I got close to Miriam when I asked her to be my prayer partner when I was going through a personal battle. We were only acquaintances then, but she did not hesitate to give me her full attention at a time when I needed a friend most. She is truly every inch a woman of God.
A quick hug with Dad before recieving his bride…
When the bride is making her way down the aisle, I always try to keep one eye on the groom to see how he’s doing. In Ardy’s case, he was blushing like a glass of rosé. He eventually turned beet red when Miriam entered the pavilion. What is it about this part of the wedding that often brings out so much emotion? Above, Miriam wipes away a stray tear as a mesmerized audience looks on.
A light moment as Ardy and Miriam laugh at a joke made by the officiating Pastor…
There was so much smiling and laughter at this wedding! Miriam was so natural and care-free while Ardy was beaming from ear to ear. I could almost hear their hearts beat as one.
Some of the Ninongs and Ninangs – Left Peter Kairuz of the 700 Club Philippines with his wife Christine. Right – Mr. Pure Energy Gary V and his wife Angeli…
Peter Kairuz (leftmost dude) of the 700 Club Philippines is one of my favorite people in the world! He said a beautiful prayer for Ardy and Miriam that touched my heart. Gary V. also sang for the lovely couple. A friend at the wedding told me that she always hears his songs played at weddings but this was the first time she’s seen him sing live at someone’s nuptials. Nakakakilabot talaga when Gary V. takes the stage!
Miriam and Ardy spent the whole time exchanging glances…
The singer Cher once asked in a song, “Do you believe in love after love?” I certainly do! This is the second marriage for both Ardy and Miriam. Miriam’s marriage ended in divorce years back while Ardy lost his wife to Lupus last year in January. But God is faithful and turned their mourning into dancing again!
Ardy Roberto making his nuptial vows to Miriam Quiambao as his son Joshy inserts himself into the picture, LOL!
During his vows, Ardy said something that really struck me. He said that when he was a young man he believed that God worked in mysterious ways. But now that he’s older he realizes that the Lord is really not that mysterious. Why? Because God lives up to his promises and that makes Him predictable. You might not know the timing but God always delivers.
I also felt so touched that Ardy mentioned his late wife Tingting and how devastating it was when she passed on. Yet in his days of mourning God impressed on his heart that he would love again. Ardy also shared the story of when he asked his son Joshy if it was okay to find a new mommy and the boy said YES!
Now it’s Miriam Quiambao’s turn to pledge herself to Ardy…
Miriam read her entire 8-page vow at the wedding as the crowd listened intently. The one thing that touched me deeply was when she said that what impressed her most about Ardy was that he was such a devoted, faithful and loving husband to his late wife. Because of that she is certain that he will love her fully and make her happy.
Isn’t it wonderful when you embrace the past of someone and love them unconditionally?
Ardy Roberto (middle) with my hubby Ron T. and little Joshy.
That’s my wonderful hubby in the pale suit. He took almost all the photos in this post. How do I know Ardy Roberto? Well, we were schoolmates in Benedictine Abby in the mid-80s. He was two or three years ahead of me. Do you know that in those days he was a classical ballet dancer? Ha! Bet you didn’t know that!
It’s time for the exchange of rings…
Take a close look at Miriam’s face in the top photo. She’s grinning from ear to ear because she realizes that the ring is a little too tight for Ardy’s finger. But she was persistent and managed to get the band securely around his ring finger. Miriam says she’s been making Ardy work out at the gym so maybe he’s gained some extra muscles in his fingers? Aahahaaha!
Miriam and Ardy pour out giant vials of colored sand to symbolize the union of their lives…
This is a new trend in weddings called the “Sand Ceremony” where the bride and groom pour out differently colored sand into one clear vase to symbolize the union of their lives from two individuals to one couple. Miriam chose pink sand while Ardy had light blue. How adorably cute. The colors made me think of babies!!! LOLZ!
And now they are ONE!
Finally, Ardy and Miriam are pronounced man and wife (or husband and wife, if you prefer that). Miriam gives the most beautiful smile in the universe and Ardy makes a victory fist! But because I am very worldly (don’t tell my pastor ha?) this is not the highlight for me. It’s what happened NEXT: The Locking of LIPS!
The most important part of the wedding! THE KISS!
Ardy and Miriam, can I just thank you for that fabulous wedding kiss? I have been to many weddings in the Philippines but always feel like the kiss part is always bitin. The girl is too shy or the boy doesn’t know how to pucker up properly. Then it lasts for half a second. Sigh.
But the Ardy-Miriam wedding kiss was nothing like that! It was a long kiss with enough passion to make all the girls kilig but not so much as to cause discomfort among the old schoolers, aahahah! These two can conduct kissing classes for couples about to get married!
Post kiss moment…
Yes, there were many Twilight moments like this where all they could do was stare and drink each other in. But it wasn’t cheesy, folks! It was heart-warming and most beautiful!
And now they are one family! Miriam, Ardy and Joshy Roberto!
One of my favorite moments during the wedding ceremony was the exchange of vows between Miriam and Joshy. When you think about it, she’s not just marrying Ardy, she’s also taking Joshy into her life! It was so cute to hear Joshy say a loud YES to Miriam being his new Mommy!
What a gorgeous couple! Miriam and Ardy!
This beautiful photo was on every table napkin in the pavilion. On the reverse, each guest is asked to give advice to leave behind for the couple. But this naughty girl decided to just keep the photo. It was too gorgeous to leave behind. I’ll just put my advice here in my blog nalang – To Miriam, be the number 1 cheerleader of Ardy and never plead a headache, hehehe. To Ardy, be the number 1 cuddler of Miriam and make sure to always tell her she is the most beautiful woman in the whole wide UNIVERSE!
Me with Ardy and some guests at the wedding!
Yey! There I am in my Honolulu garden dress which is close to my heart because my Mom bought it for me. Anyway, Im with Ardy Roberto in the top left photo, Kata Inocencio (my mentor) in the top right one. At the bottom left I’m with one of my favorite actresses, Coney Reyes and in the bottom right photo I’m with Ruffa Gutierrez and two other PRETTY girls… FUN!
And now the newlyweds make their grand re-entry as the hosts welcome them back as Mr. an Mrs. Ardy and Miriam Roberto! Whooohooo!
Finally! They are back after their short break and we can all take photos and enjoy the wedding banquet which included Puttanesca, Mixed Veggies, Green Salad, Ox Tongue, Lamb Chops, Roast Chicken, Ribs, Pannacotta, a Chocolate Mousse Cake and Wine for all!
Ardy and Miriam’s first dance as a married couple!
Look carefully at the background and you’ll see Anthony Pangilinan with his beautiful wife Maricel Laxa with their daughter. They were the emcees for the entertainment portion. They were also the Cord Sponsors during the wedding proper. Can I just say that Maricel Laxa looks fabulously fabulous? She is worthy of a beauty queen crown, IMHO…
It’s photo time with the bride and groom! These are some of the celebrity friends of Ardy and Miriam…
I don’t recognize everyone in this photo but here’s who I do know – Left to right – Phoemela Barranda, a cute guy and then a cute girl. Then there Garlic Garcia, Miriam Quiambao Roberto, Ardy Roberto, Crystal Belo, a pretty girl, Ruffa Gutierrez (who was stunning in her bronze gown) and then lastly, another pretty girl in blue. If you recognize anyone please leave me a note in the comments section, por favor!
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance…
What a beautiful wedding full of smiles and stories of God’s redemption and love. I am excited to see Ardy and Miriam embark on a new life together with Joshy. It won’t be an easy journey as marriage is guaranteed to be rocky ride, but with God as the third cord in this union, Ardy and Miriam are destined to become one of the most beautiful and inspirational couples in the Philippines.
PS… watch out for Miriam’s book coming out soon. And of course, Ardy will be sure to write volumes on his new love!
