Coronation night for this year’s Miss Intercontinental is fast approaching – Dec. 14, 2013 is the night we’ll find out if Koreen Median will be the first ever Filipina (and South East Asian for that matter) to win the title!
How is she doing so far?
Well… from the photos I’ve seen, it looks like she’s shining above the others with her new styling and ‘older-look’ make-up. Koreen Medina’s weakness, from the very start, is her youth and ‘cuteness’ which don’t count for much in a pageant that favors women who sizzle and roar. “I am the youngest contestant,” she says, “but I know a lot of things and I have this conviction and fighting spirit. I can do more and improve more!”
And improve she did with her new look: penetrating smokey eyes and luscious curls that tumble down her shoulders. Perhaps a more intriguing smile would perfect the package?
As for her physique, I love her curves but for pageant purposes she could trim down a bit. At least that’s what it seems to me looking at the photo above.
But one thing really annoys me: Koreen Medina’s official headshot on the Miss Intercontinental website looks more like a graduation photo than a beauty pageant head shot. Fifty lashes to Mutya ng Pilipinas for sending such a teeny-bopper photo of Koreen when we all know that she has to look a little older than her actual age of 18.
As for her communication skills,Koreen is the first to admit that she needs to work on her Q&A. She says, “I have the right thought in my mind but I’m scared to answer. Maybe it’s stage fright!” But after training hard under several mentors, this blogger is confident that Koreen will do fine in any Q&A session. Although she does ramble on and grasp for words a lot (I attribute it to her youth), she makes sense, her accent is lovely and she smiles so sweetly when speaking. And the pageant is being held in Germany so I’m assuming they won’t be too nit-picky with English skills.
The one thing that the Cebuana is comfortable talking about is the nation’s plan to rebuild of Tacloban and other areas hit by Typhoon Yolanda. She says, “The Philippines has gotten a lot of this kind of destruction and major storms. I will tell them that because of that the Philippines is one of the strongest nations in the world!”
I have high hopes that Koreen will become one of the strongest contestants in the Miss Intercontinental 2013 beauty pageant and become the first Filipina to win the title! Best wishes to Koreen Medina and the Mutya ng Pilipinas organization!
