Tacloban in the aftermath of typhoon Yolanda

Tacloban in the aftermath of killer typhoon Yolanda

It has been very difficult for this blogger to be so far from home (I’m currently in Chiangrai, Thailand) while the Philippines has been knocked down to its knees in the aftermath of killer typhoon Yolanda which is estimated to have taken the lives of 10,000 in Tacloban and surrounding areas. How I wish I could be back home to help and to commiserate with friends. But at least through this blog, I can still find a way to do something.

Click here to get updates from Rappler on the relief operations in affected areas.

I just received news that my derma clinic across Robinson’s Galleria has just opened itself up as a drop-off center for donations. Dr. Shae Raymundo who is my dermatologist sent this SMS to me:

Dermalosophy is accepting donations for the victims of typhoon Yolanda and will be brought to Benguet Corporation/Doña Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Medical Foundation in Makati. All donations will be brought to Tacloban. They need FOOD, WATER, RICE, MEDICINE.

Dermalosophy is located at:  Eton Cyberpod Corinthian, Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City. What I like to do is park at Robinson’s Galleria then cross Ortigas on foot to get to Eton Cyberpod which is right across Galleria. The clinic is on the ground floor of Eton Cyberpod which is a low-rise building.

Just remember – NO CLOTHES OR SHOES PLEASE! Stick to food, water rice and medicine!!!

Dona Meding, as she is fondly known, was immortalized in a beautiful family tree depicting a coral reef fan, done by Betsy Westendorp who is the BFF of Madame Stella Marquez Araneta, the founder of Bb. Pilipinas Charity Inc. The family tree painting hangs by the staircase of the Santo Nino Shrine in Leyte. Photo below.

The Dona Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Medical Foundation was established by the children of Dona Meding.  The foundation is based in Tacloban City.
